Jack Amberg is a personal mortgage banker, for The Federal Savings Bank, who has dedicated his life to serving others. Jack spent 26 years in the US Army serving our great nation as well as leading our nation’s greatest asset, our youth. While serving he focused on the care of others, while stewarding the resources provided by the citizen of the US. Jack began his career as an enlisted Troop, and was selected to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point where he graduated as a Second Lieutenant in 1988. Rising to the rank of Major, Jack became a Public Affairs Officer in 1998. He served as the Chief of Public Affairs for US Army Japan, living in Japan from 2002-2005, and deploying from Japan as part of the Joint Special Operation Task Force Philippines in 2003. He handled many international crisis communications challenges successfully and was hand-picked by the Army’s Chief of Public Affairs to serve in the Army’s prestigious Training with Industry Program. This position transferred him to Chicago in 2005 where he spent a year working at Ketchum PR. His next assignment in 2006 moved Jack 12 blocks across Chicago as he would culminate his military career achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and assigned as the Director of US Army Public Affairs Midwest, responsible for community relations for the United States Army in a 16 state region.
Upon retirement in 2008, Jack began working at the Robert R McCormick Foundation as the Senior Director of Veterans Programs having been hand-picked by the CEO of the foundation at the time. After 3 successful years building the strategy that the foundation would use as the basis of their Veterans philanthropy, Jack was invited to join The Federal Savings Bank. While remaining a passionate Veterans advocate, this opportunity allowed Jack to continue to serve others, helping them save money and improve the quality of their lives. He has also been trusted with the task of assisting in building a national VA Mortgage program. Jack clearly has a passion for helping others. Jack expertly intertwines his values of service, honor and integrity with providing the greatest value possible to all he engages.
Jack also works as the Military Spokesman for WGN’s The Morning Show and “First Business” on WCIU, and has also commented on WLS’s Roe and Roper Show. He serves on the Transportation Advisory Board in Naperville IL, and is the Vice President of the West Point Society of Chicago. Jack is also an active member of the VFW, American Legion, Disabled Veterans of America, The First Cavalry Division Association, The State Discharged Service Member Task Force, Senator Mark Kirk’s Veterans Advisory Board, and The Union League Club of Chicago. Jack was selected as the Illinois State Veteran of the Month for December 2011. Jack lives in Naperville, IL with his wife, Kristen, and three children, Maggie, Tess, and Michael.
